When design saves lives, you know really why you are doing what you do.

The context
- An International NGO in transition
- Sensitive political context
- Restricted budget (based on donations)
- Multiple production sites
The challenge
The objective of this application was to send alerts to ICRC members and families on the field, and provide first information on what actions to take to stay safe.
Key success factors:
- mobility
- security
- performances (very isolated areas and unstable fields)
Key success factors:
- A customer involved in the UX process
- A solid initial work on the technical side
- Agile mindset

The results
It is fascinating context! I loved the agile approach fully supported by the customer; even if it was a first test for them, they really wanted to spread the methods to other projects. It was a real pleasure to collaborate with the whole team, with each member deeply involved and amazing stories to tell.
This application has been developed off-shore for financial reasons; that part was sometimes hard to handle by the customer. Otherwise we can really talk about a success story! The app got some Awards and has now extended to journalists on the field.
Last time I had news from the team, they were about to raise funds for a start-up that could live beside the ICRC. A bright new model for this traditional and conservative institution!
